Youch! Brinley's First Trip to the Emergency Room

So at work today I got a call from Aaron at about noon. He calmly told me not to panic-so of course my heart dropped into my stomach! He told me that Brinley had fallen and that the ambulance and the paramedics were at the house. He said she was doing fine but that she needed to go to the hospital. I of course started crying and told Aaron I would meet him at Primary Children's. I could hear the paramedic in the background saying she was fine. Luckily I work with amazing people and they got someone in to cover for me immediately and I walked over to the ER at PCMC. I met Aaron and Brinley in the ER driveway and we rushed her in. She was so happy to see me and no tears to be found. The back of her head was covered in blood. Her hair was dyed red! We waited for a bit and Brinley made a little friend. He had fallen 1 week earlier and cut his head open and gotten 2 staples. We had great docs in the ER and they numbed the wound and flushed it out. She got 3 staples, they watched her for a while, gave her a teddy bear and a popsicle and sent us on our way. We grabbed her some food and headed home and she has been great ever since. What a trooper! She is way tougher than her mommy. She gets the staples out in 1 week and we just have to watch her and keep it clean. She will tell anyone who asks that she bonked her head. Thank goodness I have an awesome husband and daddy that reacted quickly in a scary situation. I am so glad that Brinley is doing so great.

Sorry, this is a bit graphic

Cheese!

At home and doing well!

How the West was Fun

Because Brinley has been so obsessed with riding ponies lately we decided to rent one and have a party. Aaron has been working his tail off to fix up the yard so we could get everyone together to send a great summer off in style and have an excuse to hang with friends and family. I really intended on taking lots and lots of pictures and I failed miserably! Poor Brinley also missed her nap that day so she was not her usual self. Anyway, here are some pictures.

Brinley and Daddy getting ready for everyone to show up.

Brinley being brave and riding the pony after it whinnied and scared the ever living crap out of her

Brave little cowgirl

Just making sure Mommy is still walking next to her

In the pen with the goat and the bunny

Again, with the goat and the bunny

She kept wanting Mommy and Daddy inside the pen so we could play too, sweet little girl

Checking for poop... just kidding

It was a great time with family and friends and Aaron smoked some awesome food. I am excited to do it again next year and make it a yearly tradition. We have such awesome family and friends and next year I hope even more can make it. Thanks again to everyone who came and please send me your pictures!!!

Mommy and Brinley's Day Out

Recently, my work asked me to switch my schedule back to Monday-Friday. We have been going through some staffing changes and I was recently made the dedicated trainer in addition to my duties as Apheresis Supervisor. On my last 7 off I really wanted to spend the day with just me and Brinley. I feel like I am missing out on so much in her life being a working mom. I am so grateful that she is home with her Daddy though. We first went to Wheeler Farm. In the past Brinley will say she wants to go for a ride on the ponies but ends up changing her mind. This day, she didn't change her mind! She loved it.

I think I may have a little cowgirl on my hands.

Hi Mama! Look at me!

After the pony it was off to feed the ducks.

There was one chicken that hung out with all the ducks too. He would eat right out of our hands but it was kinda painful with his sharp beak.

Here duckies!!

I love the ducks

My Sweet Little Bug

She is such a smart kid, she figured out what to do with that food and loved feeding everything.

After Wheeler Farm we went to lunch, just Mommy and Brinley. She loved it. She loves to jump on anything bouncy so she spent all of lunch eating her chicken and fries and jumping on the booth seat. The restaurant was pretty much empty so I let her have at it.

Then we had to pose for a self portrait.

After Lunch it was off to Gardner Village for 1 more pony ride.

She picked one of the biggest ponies.

She liked the view from the saddle, she is pointing to the petting zoo.

Then it was off the the petting zoo. Brinley loves all the animals. Goats, pigs, chickens, turtles, everything.

This big turtle freaked her out at first but she decided she liked it before we left. It was a great day with Brinley and while I am sad to miss out on my 7 days off with her, I am now working shorter days and have more time with her in the evenings. I also get every weekend with her and Aaron and it is great.

What we have been up to this summer

So, I have been a major blogging slacker for the past few months. A lot of that has to do with work, I am major burned out. I don't want to talk much about work on my blog so lets just move on to summertime fun. We decided one day to head up to Jordanelle for the day to try and beat the heat. I didn't know the water there was so cold! Maybe I am just getting wimpy in my old age. Anyway, we had a good time just letting Brinley play in the water and Aaron attempted to fish. All he caught was a seagull that fortunately got away!

I know she looks a little scared in this shot but I promise she was having fun.

She is also not out there unsupervised. I am there, just over to the right. I am wearing a swimming suit so I promise that none of you will EVER see those pictures.

Tom's Mom-Granny Pat and her husband- Grandpa Joe were in town for the 4th of July so we went and hung out with them for the day. We started out hanging out on the deck snacking and trying to stay cool. If you look closely you can see Brinley getting sprayed with water to try and stay cool.

She had a great time with 6 adults around catering to her every whim and trying to entertain her.

She loves poppers. She started playing with them out back on the deck and then we moved on to the front for more poppers fun.

After a wardrobe change (Miss Brinley got a bit wet and dirty, imagine that!) We went out front to burn off some energy and wait for sunset and fireworks.

Brinley loves it when her Daddy takes her for rides in the Burley. She was playing on the Burley and trying to convince someone to take her for a ride.

This is when I "caught" her sneaking around the cars to try and scare all the grandparents. This is a favorite game of Brinley's. She laughs so hard, it is one of my favorite things to do with her.

Finally, time for some sparkler fun. I was glad Daddy was there to help her out. She wasn't so sure about the sparklers.

The end of the night. One more wardrobe change- it got a bit chilly for the dress- and a diet coke to enjoy the fireworks. She had a great day and was tired out.

I am forever trying to sneak pictures of my handsome husband. I just think he is very photogenic and I love capturing his smile. I was a bit of a pest on the 4th.

He is forever getting annoyed with me for trying to take his picture all the time.

Grandpa Joe brought all of the boys Cuban cigars (gag, gag, cough, cough). Aaron loves a Cuban cigar. The boys sat out front smoking the cigars and I put my long lens on my camera so Aaron would think I was taking pictures of Brinley and I snuck in a few shots of him. I love this one. Pure laughter.

There is a real genuine, Aaron smile. I love it.

And this is me getting caught. Guess I am not as sneaky as I thought!

A Little Catching Up

When I asked Aaron what he wanted to do for his birthday, back in June, I thought he would want to go to dinner or have a party or something but he just wanted to spend the day with me and Brinley. He wanted to take her to the petting zoo at Gardner's village and just hang out.

We started the day off in the backyard. Aaron wanted to build a shaded area for the dogs and Brinley loves to be outside in her swimsuit. She would live in a swim suit if she could. Aaron crawled in to check out the shade thing he built and Brinley wanted in there with him. These two are like peas in a pod.

We stopped on the way to Gardner's and got Aaron his favorite fast food, Weinershnitzel. (gag) He loves chili cheese dogs and chili cheese fries, I can barely stand to look at chili ever since the whole C. Diff debacle. Anyway, I think my husband is the hottest guy in the world so I am forever trying to take his picture. He was annoyed but helpless.

Then Daddy took Brinley into the petting zoo and she was in heaven. It was so fun watching the two of them together. Mommy stayed outside to take pictures. I was still on crutches from my hip surgery so I didn't want to hobble around in the dirt.

Brinley loved all the animals. She baaaaed, and mooooed, and oinked, and generally had a great time.

It is an awesome little petting zoo and the animals are really gentle. We had a great time.

Aaron is so patient with Brinley, he followed her around and around until she was done.

All done and ready to go home for the day. Next year Daddy will be the big 3-0 so we will have to plan something a bit more extravagant.

Why boys are dumb

I am so behind on blogging that I don't even want to try and catch up. Instead I will tell you a little story about why boys are dumb.
The other weekend, Aaron headed down to Lake Powell with one of our good friends. Our friend wanted to go and look at a boat that he wants to buy- that is another story altogether. Anyway, I have been trying to get Aaron to understand why I love Lake Powell for the last 5 years. This trip did the trick. Not only did he finally understand but he also now wants a boat. He has been combing the classifieds trying to find a boat. I happened to be on KSL one day and saw that a guy had put up an add for a free boat to anyone who could get it out of his yard. I knew my husband would see that ad. The next day Brinley and I came home from running errands to this in our driveway.

Oh and he had help of course

What's that babe? Boys are dumb?

Ha Ha, my wife says boys are dumb. That's funny, my wife says the same thing

Good thing he is so cute (Looks like he has some Captain in him)

So the boat is now in my garage. To be continued...

This little girl is growing up so fast. I love her so much. I am going back to Monday through Friday the first week of September and I am so sad about it. I will miss my 7 days off with her. I am trying really hard to look on the bright side. At least I know she is always well taken care of with her Daddy.

She is obsessed with this baby doll that my mom got her a while back. We have to take it everywhere with us. This stage cracks me up.

I have lots more updates to give but I am running out of blogging time. I will tell you one new thing from the last few months. Brinley was diagnosed with a severe tree nut allergy. She is especially allergic to cashews. We now have epi-pens and benedryl with us at all times. Anyway please don't give her any food without checking with me or Aaron first. You would be surprised at how many things have tree nuts, or traces of tree nuts. I really hope I update again soon but I tend to make that promise a lot so we will see!
